 The Ben Pritchard Foundation

Ben was just 8 years old when he died from a rare and very aggressive brain tumour called DIPG. Prior to his diagnosis he was a fit, healthy and happy young boy who loved football, both playing for his local team and watching Bristol City FC. In the weeks following Ben’s death, rather than being bombarded by help from professionals, Shane and Sarah, Ben’s parents, noted there was a huge gap in the market for reliable, ongoing support. Even less for bereaved siblings and nothing for other family members; grandparents, aunts and uncles. This is why they set up The Benjamin Pritchard Foundation – Be More Ben in June 2018. Be More Ben provides parents and families affected by the death of a child with networking opportunities, days out and activities and offers ongoing support services such as talking and complimentary therapies.

  • To ensure that the importance of good nutrition from pre-conception to age five remains on everyone’s agenda.

Sleep

Baby Sleep Information Source

The aim of Basis (the Baby Sleep Information Source) is to provide online access to up-to-date research based evidence about biologically normal infant sleep, in forms that are accessible to parents and health practitioners, supported by references to research relevant to families in the UK. We conceptualise ‘biologically normal infant sleep’ as being the sleep of babies who are exclusively or predominantly breastfed to at least 6 months of age and cared for in a responsive manner. We do not consider sleep training methods that require leaving babies alone for sleep in the first year of life to be biologically normal.basisonline.org.uk

BossCut Barbers and Hair Salon – Children’s Sensory Room

BossCut Barbers & Hair Salon have created something very special for local families, & designed some spaces just for children. There’s a super cool sit in ‘car chair’, where they can feel they’re in the driving seat while getting their hair cut. For those children who find the whole experience too overwhelming, they’ve created friendly, welcoming & peaceful sensory rooms. You’ll find equipment which is quieter & less scary, as well as staff who will cater to their needs & go at their pace. If they would find it helpful, you can always bring them in to spend time in the space before you book an appointment.
